About Savantes
     

Established in 2001, International Savantes presents training courses, events and promotes excellence in extra virgin olive oil, with participants from Europe, Africa, Asia, Oceania and North America.

The first Savantes programme was presented in Melbourne, Australia, in 2001 by International Olive Oil Expert and Author Judy Ridgway.  Courses have since been presented in Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Sydney, presented by a range of international oil and culinary experts that includes Roberto Zecca, Justo del Amo, Xavier Codina, Linda Costa, Gerardo Jiménez Luque and Jean-Bernard Chomarat.

Savantes aims to inform those with a business or personal interest in olive oil on current taste and market trends around the world. This is achieved by providing:

  • The leading extra virgin olive oils from around the world for tasting.

  • Tutoring and refreshment of the sensory assessment of olive oils.

  • Current local and international market data and price points.

  • Realistic commercial evaluation of participant’s oils using the above benchmarks.

  • Ideas on the culinary uses of olive oils.

  • Assistance in the blending of new season oils to a differentiated, marketable and profitable product.

  • Opportunities for trading in olive oils required to enhance a blend or reach critical mass.

  • A marketing network of accomplished tasters, chefs, distributors and food media.

  • Personal development and peer recognition.

International Savantes has also launched complimentary programmes, including 'Blue Glass Class' and 'Blending with the Best'.  A professional table olive programme was also launched and presented in 2002 (Table Olive Savantes)

In 2008 Extra Virgin Olive Oil Savantes was presented in Spain and Italy in 2008, with Judy Ridgway, Gerardo Jiménez Luque and other international experts.
